Launching of Toronto’s LG Fashion Week

Fashionistas assembled at the Heritage Court, Exhibition Place for the opening of Toronto’s LG Fashion Week to view the Spring 2011 Collections of Canada’s leading designers.

The A-list crowd of this invite only event included Toronto-born supermodel Coco Rocha who showed no shame in expressing her support, “I have to say, I’m loving this venue…Don’t tell New York but it’s much better.”

The show began with the clean, geometrical designs of Jeremy Laing. Origami type folds and draping designs in neutral ivory and taupe were complemented by skyscraper high black ankle boots.  His collection was an eclectic mix of sheer and luxe fabrics that were airy yet sleek and, as always, fresh and contemporary.

Smythe les Vestes transformed the runway into a sea of whimsy with 70s style high-waisted shorts, floral blouses, chunky colourful bracelets with fuschia socks and chunky platforms. Wild teased hair, topped with straw hats and ornate daisies were reminiscent of a sunny spring day. The looks were completed with Smythe’s signature menswear tailored blazers in black, white and army green.

Calgary native Wayne Clark’s stunning creations in bold crimsons were fit for the red carpet. His collection included form fitting, floor length gowns adorned with ruffles, bows and long flowing trains in luxurious fabrics.
LG Fashion week Style of Power concludes on October 23. The semi-annual showcase will feature some of Canada’s leading talents including Pink Tartan, Joe Fresh Style and Denis Gagnon. Tickets can be purchased from the official LG Fashion Week website. Stay tuned for more LG Fashion Week Coverage and roundup!
